Severn Sounds Stage – at Mello Festival 2019
Severn Sounds are absolutely delighted to be hosting a full stage at this year’s Mello Festival, giving young musicians the opportunity to perform and showcase their talents at a major midlands festival!
We have been overwhelmed with applications from young performers and we really hope that you will join us over the weekend to celebrate the immense young talent that the area has to offer.
Musicians from Kidderminster College’s MAS Records programme, Tudor Grange School, Christopher Whitehead Language College, Heart of Worcester College, Pershore High School, Tewkesbury School, Hanley Castle High School, Hereford College plus many more will be performing throughout the weekend, alongside legends of the from the music industry; The Wonder Stuff, EMF, Goldie Lookin Chain, Brand New Heavies, Incognito, Craig Charles etc.
Feed me Milk
Some of the young bands who will be performing this year include Feed Me Milk, a radical sounding indie genre bending outfit whose energy, charisma, and roster of original tracks will pick you up and punch you in the face. Mixed with a blend of boisterous character, spunkiness and full fat milk , the sound of Feed Me Milk falls from big riffs that envelop you like lava to soft songs that’ll sit down and pat you on the back after a bad night out. They pluck inspiration from bands such as Blur, Slaves , Arctic Monkeys and Queens of the Stone Age. The proficient, rapid rise of Feed Me Milk shows no signs of slowing down and you know you need to be part of it!
The Filthy Casuals
Are a young and exciting four piece progressive Indie Rock band from Gloucestershire. Since forming a year and a half ago they have built a solid fan base and have performed at over 40 events and venues such as Kingsholm Stadium Gloucester, The Phoenix Festival and Olliefest and most recently at The O2 Academy3 to great reviews.
Since joining up with Kidderminster based MAS Records, they have been working hard at Two Rivers studio to release their own material and distinctive sound, working with Monochrome Productions to release their first single in February and a four track EP later in the spring of this year.
We are thrilled to introduce Sammy G a 20 year old You Tuber with high-functioning autism who alongside his studies in Graphic Design, sings covers. He has been performing in the amateur theatre production group PODS (Pershore Operatic and Dramatics Society), since September 2017.
The Chloe Mogg Band
“Delivering a mixture of musical influences, Chloe Mogg creates a musical journey with her songs and own arrangements of covers. As a young singer-songwriter with “parrot” hair, she brings life and colour to her performances.
Firstly, you notice the hair. Long, flowing and daubed in rainbow colours it’s like all the magic of Glastonbury Festival rolled into one haircut – Leigh Sanders, Express and Star
Now with her own original band, joined by session musicians on the night, it’s a new look at Chloe’s songs. Think Jeff Buckley meets Wolf Alice. Her debut album is due for release late 2019.”
Annie Hulbert @AnnieHulbert2 … some of you will remember seeing this talented young singer songwriter at last year’s Mello Festival performing on both the Severn Sounds bandstand and the Assembly Stage. Well, fresh from achieving a distinction in the Rock and Pop category at the Worcester Competitive Arts Festival (WCAF), she’s back! This time of course on the upgraded Severn Sounds Stage! She’s bringing us a few new songs of her own and some exciting fresh covers, so not to be missed!
I’m a 17-year-old singer/songwriter. I can’t remember a time when I haven’t found a comfort in music. When I was little my mum used to play Mozart, Tchaikovsky and others on the piano. So, when I was eleven, I learnt four chords on the piano and began to write songs. As I got more skilled on the piano I decided to try and learn guitar however I found that is was harder then it looked so I got a ukulele for my birthday and learnt 10 different chords in the first half an hour I picked it up and that was two years ago now. My huge musical influence has always been musical theatre, there is something so honest and relatable about the music and lyrics which is why I’m currently studying Performing Arts at Heart of Worcestershire College.

Brothers, Elliot 18 and Jacob 19, from Eastnor in Worcestershire, are collectively known as Dub Ruvas. They have been mixing together as a duo for a year and specialise in all types of Jungle and Drum n Bass. Drum and bass is a fast paced genre of electronic music that consists of fast drum breaks and heavy sub baselines. They were inspired by seeing jungle DJs such as Shy FX and DJ Hype live at festivals and knew from an early age that’s what they wanted to do. They have been in love with the genre ever since.
They have a dynamic set mixing a variety of tunes using synthesisers and drum machines, including their own original material.
They performed at Lakefest last summer and recently had one of their own tracks feature on radio BBC Hereford and Worcester. Elliot studies music at Hereford College of Arts and Jacob is currently studying fine art at UWE in Bristol.
Meet Shannon on vocals, Dan on keys, Josh on guitar, Ben on bass, and Stanley on drums…
Fivefold Gold are thrilled to be opening the Severn Sounds stage for their debut festival performance. A newly formed group, Fivefold Gold is a fun and energetic group of young musicians based in Worcester, who enjoy blending rock and pop music. Influenced by the likes of Queen, Elton John and Blondie, we enjoy creating our own arrangements and performing at a variety of different events throughout the year. We want people to enjoy our music – we play to get people dancing, clapping and have a great time enjoying the music as much as we do!
From punk rock to bedroom indie pop, the songs I write and play have a metaphorical meaning, literal meaning , a meaning that is personal to me. Music is a creative outlet that allows me to express a plethora of expressions and feelings. My biggest influence is Gus Dapperton, a young American musician. My spare time is spent writing and recording new material, and experimenting with new sounds. Music is my true passion.
“With a set full of rocking, heart-breaking and triumphant acoustic covers and original songs, up and coming solo artist, Mali Elin, has been winning the hearts of crowds across the midlands for the past year. Mali’s vibrant image and raw, emotional, honed soaring vocals set her apart as a truly unique 16 year old performer, and give her an edge to be reckoned with. After highly praised appearances at The Marrs Bar, Worcester Arts Workshop, Veeno Wine Bar, Kidderminster College and many more, Mali will enchant crowds with pop rock covers and exciting new songs, as she returns to Mello Festival after an acclaimed first appearance last year”
Hi! My name is Summer, and I am the vocalist of The Melodonics. I’ve been singing from a very young age and have studied some classical and musical theatre. Adele, Paloma Faith and Taylor Swift have influenced my style. Using my vocal power and depth helps my voice tell a story. I love music which can allow you to interpret the lyrics in many different ways; that can change your emotions in a moment, for good or worse.
I have known Charles since Primary School, and we haven’t always been friends let alone band mates. I always used to think he was really weird (I still do)!!!
Music that allows you to dance (even if you don’t think that you’re that kind of person), and I’d like to be able to think that’s the type of music that Charles and I, as The Melodonics, can create.
Hi! My name’s Charles, I am the lead rhythm section for the Melodonics. I was brought up going to festivals, my first being about 9 months old! Being exposed to music at such a young age enabled me to combine the traditional African drum (djembe) into the alternative music that we play as a band.
Influences include Gaz Brookfield, The Levellers and Done By Sunrise. Thank you to Seven Sounds for letting us come back and pursue our passion, for believing in us. I promise that we will not let you down; we’ll only get better.
One Eye Open
One Eye Open is a two-piece band from Worcester.
They enjoy playing pop, rock and punk music, and like to put their own twist on songs by turning rock songs into power ballads and acoustic ballads into pop-rock songs.
The band consists of Natalie, the vocalist and pianist, and Mollie, the guitarist, who have been playing their instruments for 10 years and 1 year respectively.
The band loves performing and takes any opportunity to do so.
They have performed in many different bands and groups separately but have now come together through
their love of music.
Mollie has previously performed at Severn Sounds Festival and Mello Festival last year.
Pershore High School – Les Misérables
For the last six months, students at Pershore High School have been rehearsing for their annual school production. This year they performed Les Misérables and it was without a doubt their best production yet. They’re bringing a medley of songs to the Severn Sounds stage at Mello Festival; it’s a performance you won’t want to miss!
Redwood has been performing in and around the Worcester and Birmingham circuit for the last couple of years and is stirring up a name for herself locally. Howling ethereal vocals with engaging lyrics and catchy pop hooks. “…End of the world songwriting and bellowing pipes” – JRDM, SLAP Magazine // “Redwood’s voice is exceptional.” – Mogg Blog…
Music has always been a passion of mine. Ever since I was I small I’ve been writing my own songs and singing. My inspiration has always come from my personal experiences and Icon for Hire, which is a band who writes about topics which are somewhat taboo and their messages are really inspiring.
I’m so excited to be performing on the Severn Sounds Stage at Mello Festival 2019. Please join me on Sunday afternoon. Instagram:@safire_music_

At just 14, I began playing open mic’s at venues around Worcestershire, before taking my music further afield,
capturing the attention of strangers on the streets of
Liverpool and Birmingham.
After impressing crowds and officials at Open-Mic UK, I jumped at the offer of a music development course to develop my talent as a songwriter. Since then, I have released my debut single ‘Rain’, co-written with local artist Sam Robinson, which became track of the week in both November 2017 and March 2018 on BBC Introducing Hereford & Worcester and gained radio play on a number of stations. I have since released two new singles called ‘Done The Dirty’ and my latest ‘Simmer down’ from these I have gained recognition from BBC 1 Xtra and BBC Radio 3.
Latest News! My newest single ‘Simmer Down’ is now available on ALL platforms!

A Worcestershire based Indie band that perform both covers and originals which are packed full of catchy melodies, powerful instrumentals and meaningful lyrics. They first formed in 2014 and after several lineup changes the band has settled on Jodie Hughes on vocals and guitar, Alec Gillett on lead guitar and backing vocals, Teegan White on bass and Euan Richardson on drums. After a great year of regular gigs, in 2018 they built up quite a following and are now ready to take 2019 and the Severn Sounds stage at Mello Festival by storm!
Elliot has been singing and dancing from a very young age. From a family of singers and musicians, he joined WODYS at an early age. He learnt to play guitar about five years ago, then began busking and doing gigs in Worcester. My inspirations are Ed Sheeran and Professor Green, I love their creativity. I’m really looking forward to performing on the Severn Sounds Stage at Mello Festival 2019!
I am a Worcester Sixth form student. I perform covers from a range of genres including The Smiths and Florence and the Machine.
